25th September 10am to 1230 – with refreshments after
We will take a gentle wander around the green spaces of Greenhavens, starting at the incredible Peacehaven Community Garden and ending up at Peacehaven Community Orchard. Our wonderful leader will tell us all about the community efforts to date and plans for the future and how you can get involved.
There will be an opportunity at the end to kick back and have refreshments from us and have a good chinwag!
Please note this route is linear route and does not take you back to your starting point.
Participants can make their own way back by walking, catching the Number 12 bus back from the South Coast Road or if you have booked onto the free minibus, you can be taken back to Newhaven Train Station. There is very limited car parking space at Peacehaven Community Garden and we encourage you to use public transport, cycle or walk.
There will be a minibus available to book onto that will leave Newhaven Train Station at 09:30 am and return you to the station leaving the park at 13:30, giving an hour for lunch at the Gateway Café. Minibus spaces from Newhaven Train Station are limited, please email firstname.lastname@example.org to book a place.
The only toilets are at the Café in Centenary Park.
10:00 Meet at the Community Garden which is at the end of the Green Gate. There is a wooden gate on the left hand side. David will give us an overview of this fantastic resource and how they are growing together with the community.
10:30 Do a loop around the Oval which is a fabulous wild park and then meander down the spine path visiting Lizzie’s Pocket Park on the way.
11:30 Stay a while in Peacehaven Community Orchard where you can see around 100 apple trees many of which are rare Sussex Varieties and learn about their management.
