About the project

Seedy Saturday 6th February 2021 will be a much smaller event than usual because of Covid19 restrictions. If possible, we plan to hold a seedswap in the undercroft at the Linklater Pavilion in Lewes and to hold a series of webinars.

Project Outline:

Seedy Saturday Lewes is a one day event held on the first Saturday in February. Activities include a seed swap, workshops and talks, children’s activities, stalls selling seeds, plants and gardening products and a cafe. Lewes community growing groups and garden societies take part to showcase their activities and attract members. Sustainability is a strong theme, including an emphasis on access to gardening for all, community and local sustainable businesses, reducing water use, excluding chemicals, maximising soil fertility, reducing plastics and pollution from bonfires, enhancing seed and plant varieties, and attracting and protecting wildlife.

Environmental Benefits

Supporting gardeners and allotment holders to save and share seeds, reduce water use, grow without pesticides and chemical fertilizers, maximise soil fertility, reduce plastics and pollution from bonfires, conserve seed and plant varieties, and attract and protect wildlife as well as supporting community and local, sustainable businesses.
